Professor Randy Blazak\u2019s extensive research on hate crimes and hate \ngroups, not to mention his regular role as a commentator on everything \nfrom NPR to CNN and Al Jazeera, makes his visit to City Club a special \nevent \u2013 and a timely one at that. Hate crimes have been on the rise in \nOregon, and with local civil rights group members finding themselves \ntargets earlier this year, Corvallis is no exception.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blazak\u2019s work has taken him everywhere from the classroom to the \ncourt room. Having earned his PhD at Emory University in 1995 after \nconducting an exhaustive study of racist skinheads \u2013 complete with \nundercover operations and interviews all over the world \u2014 he currently \nteaches at Portland State University and serves as the Director for the \nHate Crime Research Network (www.hatecrime.net<\/a>).\n Blazak\u2019s co-founded the Oregon hate group watchdog Oregon Spotlight and\n has written numerous passages cited or published in academic journals, \nbooks, and the mainstream media.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Blazak is an expert in every sense of the word, his list of accomplishments too numerous detail here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This City Club event is free, open to the public, and absolutely not to be missed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tuesday, October 23, 2018, starts at 12 noon. Attendance is free<\/em>.\n Doors will open at 11:30 am at the Grace Lutheran Church of Corvallis \nat the corner of Harrison & Kings. The event will begin at noon, and\n a lunch from Valley Catering will be available: $10 for members and $15\n for nonmembers.
