The move came to light in a Monday \ncourt hearing, as Oswalt is facing a new misdemeanor charge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This latest charge is for second degree criminal mischief. It is \nalleged Oswalt damaged a private individual\u2019s sign. The sign had read, \n\u201cNo matter where you are from, we\u2019re glad you\u2019re our neighbor.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This incident is alleged to have occurred on July 21, 2017.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oswalt was previously convicted in a felony case stemming from an \nincident&nbsp; in June 2017.&nbsp; In that incident, Oswalt&nbsp;targeted&nbsp; attendees of\n a Standing Up for Racial Justice chapter meeting at the South Co-Op \ncommunity room last year. He had affixed bumper stickers to their cars \nsaying, \u201cRacism is a horrible disease. You catch it from n*****s.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>That incident resulted in three counts of first degree intimidation \nand two counts of third degree criminal mischief.&nbsp;&nbsp;Oswalt could have \nbeen sentenced to 5 years in prison, but Benton County Circuit Court \nJudge David Connell sentenced him to 40 days. Ultimately, Oswalt was \nreleased 29 days into his sentence. Oswalt had also stirred controversy \nhanging a large confederate flag in his apartment window across from \ncampus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the time of these incidents, Oswalt was an OSU student and an \nelected member of the ASOSU House of Representatives, but he lost the \nposition in a recall vote after charges were filed in the intimidation \ncase. After being released on the intimidation case, Oswalt re-enrolled,\n but was then suspended.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oswalt\u2019s next court appearance is slated for April 22, at 10:30 am. \nHe advised the court he would be requesting to appear by phone, given \nhis move out of state.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Andrew Oswalt has moved to Washington.
