Currently, only the \nOregon Health Authority can issue medical exemptions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, a planned amendment to the bill would permit medical doctors\n and nurse practitioners to provide schools a note stating a child needs\n to postpone or not have a particular vaccine. The state Medical Board \nwould be tasked with guarding against abuse of the system by medical \nprofessionals. Naturopaths would not be able to provide exemption or \npostponement notes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>State Sen. Elizabeth Steiner Hayward (D-Portland) is planning to \noffer the amendment.
